The President of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou, is once again in the spotlight of the Turkish media, on the occasion – this time – of her statements about her three-day visit to Cyprus.
In particular, an article in the online version of Akit, entitled: “Two scandals together by the Greek President of the Republic” accuses Sakellaropoulou for the program of her visit to Cyprus but also for her statements to the Cypriot News Agency that preceded with shots towards Turkey.
The article describes Greece as a “spoiled child of Europe” and accuses Sakellaropoulou of “escalating the tension by not being able to digest the use of rights made by Turkey in the Eastern Mediterranean.” The article expresses dissatisfaction as well because the President of the Hellenic Republic “claimed that Turkey is an invader on the island”.
The article also accuses Sakellaropoulou that will visit “the graves of EOKA leaders”, meaning the fallen and hanged heroes of the Liberation Struggle (1955-1959) who are buried in the Imprisoned Graves of Nicosia and falsely claims that they are responsible for the murders of Turkish Cypriots.
