A replica of the Pantanassa Icon of the Mother of God was installed last week in the Patriarchal Cathedral of Bucharest, where it will remain near the reliquary of Saint Demetrius the New, the Protector of Bucharest, with the blessing of Patriarch Daniel of Romania.
The icon, painted at the workshops of Vatopedi Monastery according to the original, was donated by a family of Romanians from Italy who have a special devotion to St. Demetrius the New.
The gift is their expression of gratitude for a cancer cure received following prayers at the Icon of Our Lady “Pantanassa”.
The family wishes to remain anonymous, but the icon given to the faithful remains a testimony to the love of the Mother of God and the people’s faith. These make miracles a mystical reality, but they are always present in the Church.
