A local parish held an outstanding event during the Month for Life in the Archdiocese of Suceava and Rădăuți: a woman from Giurgești Parish was honored for the heroic deed of giving birth and raising all the 19 children that God gave to the family.
Aneta Artemie, the wife of the parish church chanter, was awarded the eparchial order of “St. John the New of Suceava”, granted by Archbishop Calinic.
Prof. Cristi-Gabriel Hurjui, an eparchial counselor at the Catechesis, Youth, and Education for Life Sector of the Archdiocese, handed the order.
The festive moment was part of a workshop for community mothers hosted by Parish Priest Marian Ștefan Onea and coordinated by his wife, Paula Onea.
More than 40 parish members participated in the workshop entitled “How to Be a Teenager’s Mother in Today’s Society”. Valentina Rusu, a psychologist, told the participants how to raise children healthily and how to relate efficiently to teenage sons and daughters.
“A child’s education begins in the womb. The mother’s whole life, skills, spiritual experiences, and concerns are passed on to the child. We can say that at the foundation of the growth and preparation for life of every great Christian is the devotion of a mother,” said Father Marian Ștefan Onea, quoted by the diocesan website.
“We want this conference to help mothers to better manage the problems that come with their children’s adolescence, to gradually transform their relationship with their children from one of authority to one of partnership.”
Giurgești Parish, part of Fălticeni Deanery, has recently set up an Ecclesia Youth Centre for catechesis and social activities.
This year, in March, declared the Month for Life, 1,500 cities and towns in Romania and the Republic of Moldova organized thousands of pro-life activities. Some 200,000 people took part in them, the organizations Students for Life and Romania for Life announced on Saturday.
