Romania’s Ambassador to the United States of America, Andrei Muraru, visited two of the oldest Romanian Orthodox parishes on American soil. The ambassador met with Romanians at St Mary’s and St Stephen’s churches in St Paul, Minnesota.
The visit was part of Ambassador Muraru’s “50 States, One Community” tour throughout the United States.
The two Orthodox churches were founded by Romanian immigrants in the early 20th century. In 1914, “St. Mary’s” Church was consecrated, while the first service held at the “St. Stephen’s” Church was in 1924.
The Romanian Ambassador’s schedule for April 17-20 included meetings with Minnesota’s governor and secretary of state, mayors of Saint Paul and Minneapolis, representatives of the Chamber of Commerce, members of the Economic Club, and executives of major companies.
