The enthronement of newly-elected Metropolitan of Imbros and Tenedos will be postponed until the next two months. The enthronement ceremony was initially scheduled to be held on Saturday, 21 May 2020, due to the measures taken by health officials in order to address the coronavirus pandemic.
According to the announcement made by the Metropolitan of Imbros, newly-elected Metropolitan Kyrillos of Imbros will take up his new pastoral responsibilities on Tuesday, 17 March.
“The current adverse situation in the world, as well as our pastoral responsibility, urge us all to follow the guidelines of the local authorities in order to reduce the risk of spreading the coronavirus,” he said in the announcement.
“We pin our hopes on the Theotokos, who protects our eparchy,” he added.
