In a statement on granting the autocephaly status to Ukrainian Church, the Patriarchate of Georgia call on all sides to create a peaceful environment based on justice.
In the statement of the Patriarchate of Georgia it is also underlined that there is a great need to maintain the unity of Orthodoxy.
“The granting of the Tomos of Autocephaly to Ukrainian Church has led to a variety of views in secular and theological circles. We have identified two sides that try to stand apart, to see the position that is right, to protect themselves in every way,” the Patriarchate noted.
“We have political and religious considerations and statements of religious and secular people. At the same time, none of the two sides avoids offensive and deceptive expressions and extortions, and this leaves grey areas,” the Patriarchate added.
“We need to know that each one of us has a great responsibility and that accelerating and unpredictable actions will not have any effect on us. At the moment, the most important thing is to maintain the unity of Orthodoxy in order to defuse the tense situation and to create a peaceful environment based on justice, the Patriarchate of Georgia said.
Finally, the Patriarchate stressed that “Our efforts must be directed towards the unity of Orthodoxy and prayer, and therefore we urge you and we ask you to be right in your relationships.”
