Patriarch Theodoros II of Alexandria and All Africa said, “We will overcome any difficulties.” In particular, he was referring to the problem of the global pandemic of the coronavirus.
He performed the Service of the Akathist Hymn at the Church of the Annunciation, which is one of the most important churches for the Greek diaspora in Alexandria. He also asked our Most Holy Lady, Virgin Mary, for help. When he was inside the church, which was empty of people due to the precautionary measures against the spread of the coronavirus, he wished everyone all the best and urged them to be courageous, to have patience and hope.
The Patriarch of Alexandria performed the Service of the Akathist Hymn along with the Patriarchal Vicar of Alexandria, Metropolitan Narcissus of Naucratis, and the Chief Secretary of the Holy Synod, Archimandrite Nikodimos Totkas. Finally, he sang the Akathist Hymn and asked the Theotokos, who is the Mother of God, to save humanity from the pandemic.
