Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia received the Ambassador of the Republic of Italy to the Republic of Serbia, Carlo Lo Cascio, in Belgrade on April 12, 2021.
Serbian Patriarch Porfirije welcomed Ambassador Lo Cascio in words of gratitude for the peacekeeping mission of the Italian military forces that participated and are participating in preserving peace in Kosovo and Metohija, as well as in securing Serbian Orthodox shrines that represent the invaluable religious, cultural, and historical value of Europe.
The Italian Ambassador to Serbia congratulated the Serbian Patriarch on his enthronement as Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church and stressed that Italy is firmly committed to dialogue as a solution to all problems in the Western Balkans and supports Patriarch Porfirije’s mission to overcome conflicts and divisions for coexistence in peace and mutual respect.
The meeting was attended by the Deputy Ambassador of the Republic of Italy to the Republic of Serbia, Giuseppe Cirillo, and the head of the Office of the Serbian Patriarch, Deacon Aleksandar Prascevic.
