Patriarch Daniel of Romania wished good health and happiness, peace and joy in a video message for the New Year 2022.
Patriarch Daniel will officiate a service of thanksgiving and blessing at the Patriarchal Cathedral on New Year’s Eve.
Prayers for the beginning of the new calendar year will be offered in all places of worship of the Romanian Orthodox Church.
This prayer service is a good opportunity to celebrate in public worship the time of passage between the years and “to thank the Holy Trinity for the benevolence received, to ask for the blessing of the beginning year and to interiorize the meanings of the royal feast of January 1, by calling upon the saving name of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Creator of the world and the Lord of the ages.”
On January 1, Patriarch Daniel will hold a solemn ceremony at the Patriarchal Cathedral to proclaim 2022 as the Solemn Year of prayer in the life of the Church and of the Christian and Commemorative Year of the Hesychast Saints Symeon the New Theologian, Gregory Palamas, and Paisios (Velichkovsky) of Neamț.
