On behalf of the entire Russian Orthodox Church, I extend my heartfelt condolences on the passing of His Holiness Patriarch Neophyte of Bulgaria.
Through his personal piety, unwavering devotion to the Church of Christ, and years of diligent service in the spiritual vineyard of Bulgarian Orthodoxy, the late Patriarch earned a revered reputation and esteemed legacy.
Of particular significance is his association with the Moscow Theological Academy, where his theological and musical talents flourished. Following his election to the Patriarchal throne, Patriarch Neophyte made several visits to the borders of the Russian Church, endearing himself to our faithful with his genuine love and profound respect.
During his visit to Moscow in 2013, he presided over the consecration of the foundation stone of the church dedicated to the esteemed Bulgarian figure, St. Cyprian, Metropolitan of Kyiv, Moscow, and All Russia. Additionally, through his active involvement, our Churches jointly venerated St. Seraphim (Sobolev) of Boguchar.
I fondly recall our fraternal interactions with Patriarch Neophyte, whose radiant spirit will forever remain in my heart.
May the compassionate Lord grant His faithful servant rest among the righteous, where there is no pain, sorrow, or sighing, but eternal life.
Eternal and blessed remembrance to the late Patriarch Neophyte!
With love in Christ,
Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia
