The Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa is in the capital of the Republic of Congo, Brazzaville, during his visit to the country.
The Bishop Theodore of Babylon, abbot of the Holy Monastery of Saint George of Old Cairo accompanies him.
The Patriarch was welcomed at the airport by the Metropolitan Panteleimon of Brazzaville and Gabon, the minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Jean Claude Gakosso, the minister of Culture, Dieudonné Moyondo, the Governor of Brazzaville, the Ambassador of Egypt, Mr. Halem Hassan Kandit, the consul of Greece Mr. Nikolaos Perris and a crowd of faithful.
On Friday morning, the Patriarch attended a dinner organized by the Consulate of Greece.
On Friday afternoon, the Patriarch had a meeting with the President of the Republic of Congo-Brazzaville, Mr. Denis Sassou Nguesso, at the Presidential Palace of the capital.
During the meeting, the Patriarch expressed his gratitude for the presence of the Head of the Patriarchate of Congo, for which, as the visits of Theodore, “are a source of true blessing and hope in a world experiencing value crisis and multiple conflicts”.
Visit of the Patriarch to the parish communities of Brazzaville and the Embassy of Egypt
Next, the Patriarch visited the Parish Community of the Lord’s Resurrection at Brazzaville where a doxology was sung in the presence of the governmental representatives, local authorities and Christian churches.
