Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv met Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa in Imbros in the margins of the celebrations for the 60th anniversary of the priesthood of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
Metropolitan Epifaniy thanked Patriarch Theodore for his love and support and presented him with a book on the establishment of the Local Church.
In response, Patriarch Theodore expressed strong support for the development of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
“As the second and apostolic throne, we followed the decision of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the First among the Primates, and we strongly support you as Primate, wishing you every success,” said Patriarch Theodore.
The Patriarch presented the head of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine with an engolpion depicting the flight of the Holy Family to Egypt.
“We know that you have Ukraine in your heart and we will always be happy to welcome you,” said Metropolitan Epifaniy.
The meeting was attended by those who accompanied Metropolitan Epifaniy, as well as Metropolitan Georgios of Guinea, the representative of the Patriarch of Alexandria in Athens.
