With the sounds of Africa and bells ringing, on the morning of Holy Saturday, Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria chanted “The Lord has risen…” and sent the good news of Resurrection in the historic Church of Saint Sabbas the Sanctified.
It was the moment when Greece, Orthodoxy and Africa united the feelings of joy with the African priests of the Patriarchate and the School “Athanasius the Great” who were beating the African drums and spreading the good news in their own special way.
Patriarch Theodore said about the great day of Christianity:
“My Greek brothers, from the Church of Saint Sabbas, from our Alexandria, we want to send you, the few who stayed here, a message of optimism and love. Christ has risen! He gives us joy, courage and hope. May this joy always be in your life, drive away all the clouds of the pandemic and bring back the smile on your face, the love in your heart, the optimism in our eyes. The Light of the Resurrection has come and will not go out for ever and ever.”
“Happy Easter and blessed years to all and especially to our Africa,” wished Patriarch Theodore, who was ringing the bell of the monastery.
