The Orthodox Academy of Crete will be commemorating the Three Holy Hierarchs, Patrons Saints of Greek Education and Letters, by organising an online event, on Saturday, 30 January 2021 at 17:00 EET.
The main objective is to reflect on the future of Education in Greece and mainly to focus on the Greek language (written and oral).
As reported by fanarion.blogspot.com, the Ecumenical Patriarch will address a greeting, Metropolitan Amfilochios of Kissamos and Selinos, the President of the Orthodox Academy of Crete OAK, Zetta Makri, Deputy Minister of Education and Religions, also Responsible for Primary and Secondary Education and Special Education, Vasilios Digalakis, former Minister of Education and Member of Parliament for the constituency of Chania, Ioannis Chrysoulakis, the Secretary-General for Public Diplomacy and Greeks Abroad and Ioannis Malandrakis, Mayor of Platanias will be also attending the event.
Professor of Linguistics Georgios Babiniotis will be the keynote speaker, who is also Archon Teacher of the Nation, former Rector of the University of Athens and President of Arsakeio Schools. The speaker will refer to the integration of foreign elements in the Greek language. In addition, particular emphasis will be put on the importance of the Greek language and on the linguistic contribution of the Three Holy Hierarchs.
