Bishop Kyriakos of Sozopolis, Archiepiscopal Vicar of Melbourne, recently visited the Parishes of St. Catherine Malvern East and St. Spyridon Clayton South, both actively involved in the “Five Loaves” Initiative—a symbol of hope and solidarity, embodying the virtues of kindness and generosity.
Under this initiative, over 400 hot meals and 550 sandwiches, along with various other food items, are prepared and distributed weekly. Additionally, clothing and personal care essentials are provided to vulnerable individuals and the homeless in Melbourne. The dedicated volunteers not only nourish bodies but also provide warmth to the souls of those they serve.
During his visit to the participating parishes, Bishop Kyriakos emphasized the transformative power of unity, solidarity, and faith in Christ to effect positive change. He conveyed Archbishop Makarios of Australia’s blessings to all involved. In response, the volunteers, inspired by the Bishop’s words of gratitude and encouragement, reaffirmed their commitment to their mission and the endeavors of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia.
