With the Blessing of Archbishop Makarios of Australia, the third in a series of Catechetical Seminars took place and were completed for 2022, at the Archdiocesan District of Northcote, with the participation of 22 non-orthodox people. These are people who became members of the Orthodox Church either through baptism or anointing.
The catechetical seminars are an institution for the Northcote region of Victoria and are held four times a year, addressed both to non-Orthodox who want to learn the Orthodox faith and the life of the Orthodox Church, and to Orthodox Christians who are interested in strengthening their knowledge and faith.
This is a ministry conducted in the English language, for which those interested in participating can contact the Archdiocesan District by phone: (03) 9998 1898, or by email: northcote@greekorthodox.org.au.
On the occasion of the completion of the current installation of the Catechetical Seminars, a special service was performed by Bishop Evmenios of Kerasounta, who addressed the catechumens with a short greeting.
Specifically, Bishop Evmenios emphasised, among other things, that “our life with Christ and the Church is not strengthened by a lot of knowledge about God, but from the mystical experience that we live out as Christians through our personal lives but also through the treasure we have, namely the Divine Liturgy”. “So your participation in the Divine Liturgy”, pointed out by Bishop Evmenios, “will be the what will strengthen you and give you the right experience of God and make you friends of Christ”.
In Closing, Bishop Evmenios of Kerasounta conveyed to the catechumens the wishes and love of Archbishop Makarios of Australia.
