Archimandrite Nestor Dinculeana was ordained to the episcopate and installed as assistant bishop to the Diocese of Deva and Hunedoara during a Divine Liturgy held Sunday at Deva.
Bishop Nestor of Hunedoara is the Diocese’s first assistant bishop.
The new assistant bishop’s ordination was officiated by Metropolitan Laurențiu of Transylvania together with seven other hierarchs at the Cathedral of Dormition of the Theotokos in Deva.
“With deep humility and inner trembling, at the call of the Lord, I dare to approach today a high and holy ministry, a service to which the angelic powers remain in bewilderment, but which God has entrusted to men as a living presence on earth of His Holy Grace and good guide on the path that leads to the Kingdom of Heaven,” bishop Nestor said thanking all those who helped him in his formation and supported him to reach this dignity.
The assistant bishop expressed “humble gratitude and filial obedience” to Bishop Gurie of Deva and Hunedoara.
“I cannot express in human words the gratitude and honor I owe to His Grace Bishop Gurie for all that I am today, but I am certain that God is the One who can repay His Grace according to the parental love he has shown me from the moment when I was blessed to know him,” said the newly ordained bishop.
“I ask God to give me wisdom, humility, and obedience so that I can be worthy to work with His Grace in the field of the Church, for the glory of the Most Holy Trinity and the benefit of the faithful of Hunedoara.”
At the end of the service, Bishop Gurie thanked all those who supported the Diocese’s efforts “for the benefit of the Hunedoara community.”
The hierarch addressed the believers who participated in the event outside the cathedral to respect the sanitary safety distance. He thanked them for their “patience, understanding, and love.”
The service was also attended by the Secretary of State for Religious Affairs, Victor Opaschi. He wished the new hierarch “a fruitful and worthy ministry.”
“This area has given the Church some great hierarchs. I wish the current hierarchs of the Diocese of Deva and Hunedoara to continue and complete with their own names this list of great personalities of the place. I wish His Grace Assistant Bishop Nestor to fulfill his confessed duty to be together with people, the link through which they reach to God, where they find hope, help, love, and peace,” Victor Opaschi said March 7.
