On July 1, new Patriarch Daniel of Bulgaria visited the Holy Monastery of Saint John of Rila. This visit followed his first Patriarchal Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of Saint Alexander Nevsky in Sofia.
During his visit to the Monastery of Rila, Patriarch Daniel venerated the holy relics of Saint John and paid his respects. The occasion also marked the 555th anniversary of the return of Saint John’s relics to the monastery, where they remain to this day.
Additionally, Patriarch Daniel took the opportunity to meet with refugee children from Ukraine who are currently hosted in Bulgaria due to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
