In a message marking the 105th anniversary of the Union of Bessarabia with Romania, Metropolitan Petru of Bessarabia recalled that the Act of Union, adopted by the Country’s Council on March 27, 1918, represented not only a national achievement but also an act of faith and aspiration towards a prosperous future.
“In a world where conflict and division are often the order of the day, it is important to remember that unity is a precious gift that we must cultivate and cherish. As the Metropolitan of Bessarabia and Exarch of the Territories, I encourage all who read this message to stay united and fight for identity, faith, peace, and harmony in our communities and worldwide,” Metropolitan Petru urged.
Metropolitan Petru urged everyone to be inspired “by the example of our heroes and leaders of the past, who fought for justice and unity, and to move with confidence towards a better future, in which freedom, goodwill, and prosperity reign over the entire Romanian nation.”
“At the same time, let us not forget that true union and peace comes only through our faith in God and following His teachings. Therefore, let us encourage each other to live a virtuous life, to love each other, to respect each other, and always to be open to the blessings and gifts that the Holy Spirit offers us,” Metropolitan Petru wrote.
“Finally, let us remember that even in the midst of suffering and difficulties, God is always with our Romanian nation. Trusting in His help gives us the hope and strength we need to move forward on the rough road of life.”
