Sweden is experiencing an escalation of the pandemic, while five people from the Greek community in the country have lost their lives, Metropolitan Cleopas of Sweden and all Scandinavia told MEGA TV.
“By the grace of God we will overcome this very soon,” he said.
In Stockholm there are two Orthodox parishes, one Greek and a smaller Finnish one, while in Scandinavia there are a total of 18 Orthodox parishes, which perform services normally, but behind closed doors. Entry is allowed to two chanters and to an authorized person for broadcasting the services.
As the Metropolitan characteristically put it, “the doors of the temples are closed, not our hearts.”
Ragrding the compliance with the measures in the Scandinavian country, the Metropolitan argued that both the experts and the Swedish Prime Minister are making constant appeals, saying that the situation must be addressed with maturity. However, there are exceptions, especially among young people, who defy danger and the recommendations of the state.
