On January 25th, the Orthodox Church observed the feast day of St. Sava, the first Serbian archbishop, coinciding with the name day of Metropolitan Sawa of Warsaw and all Poland, who joyously celebrated the occasion.
The Cathedral of St. Mary Magdalene hosted the Divine Liturgy, presided over by Archbishop Grzegorz of Bielsko, and co-celebrated by Bishop Paweł of Hajnówka, Bishop Warsonofiusz of Siemiatycze, and other clergy, while Metropolitan Sawa offered prayers at the altar.
In his insightful homily following the Divine Liturgy, Metropolitan Sawa spoke of the geopolitical challenges of the current times. He emphasized the timeless nature of ecclesiological space, where God remains unchanging, and the Church’s mission of evangelization endures. Encouraging the congregation, he urged them to remain steadfast in their faith, dedicating their hearts and unwavering trust to Christ. By living in this manner, the faithful can overcome the temptations posed by the forces of darkness. Despite the complexities of daily life, Metropolitan Sawa highlighted the presence of God’s sanctifying grace in the world, emphasizing the need for individuals to take the initiative to hear and see God’s guidance.
The Metropolitan underscored the importance of nurturing a strong faith rooted in Christ and the life of the Church. Concluding his message, he expressed gratitude to the hierarchs, guests, clergy, monks, nuns, and the youth in attendance, extending his wishes for God’s abundant blessings upon all.
