An appeal to Elder Alexios, Abbot of Xenophontos Monastery, is directed by Metropolitan Agathangelos of Odessa and Ismael, so that he will not co-officiate with the new Metropolitan of Kiev, Epiphanius.
Metropolitan Agathangelos stressed that Mount Athos should not appear to participate in and approve the recognition of the new Ukrainian church.
“Whoever co-officiates with schismatics also becomes a schismatic,” Metropolitan of Odessa says in his letter, which came to the knowledge of romfea.gr.
It should be noted that Elder Alexios maintains excellent relations with the Ukrainian people, while the monastery has special ties to the Orthodox people of Ukraine.
Also, the Metropolitan of Odessa called the Abbot of Xenophontos Monastery, who finally attended the events and participated in the official delegation of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, to raise his voice for the sake of the unity of the Church, hoping for the Ecumenical Patriarch to hear it and follow the path that the Primates of Antioch and Poland have outlined, as he points out.
