During an event held yesterday evening at Neo Heraklion, Metropolitan Gabriel of Nea Ionia was asked on the particular relations that politicians are developing during the pre-election period with the Church.
Metropolitan Gabriel referred to the politicians who remember the Church only in a pre-election period and specially condemned those who sell Christ, referring indirectly to Kyriakos Velopoulos.
In particular, Metropolitan of Nea Ionia replied as follows: “The days are wiched as we go through a pre-election period. I would not like to refer to specific persons and situations. I just want to say one thing to people to bear in mind before they go to vote, which is our duty and the quintessence of our democratic system: Be aware of the consistency of the words of the people you will choose to represent you. To sell metaphorically and literally Jesus Christ and even bring to light His handwritten letters is absurd. These people cannot represent Greek citizens in parliament. No politician can pick up votes to sell his Homeland and Christ. Have mercy!”
