Metropolitan Petru of Bessarabia welcomed Mr. Kent D. Logsdon, the new Ambassador of the United States of America to the Republic of Moldova, at the metropolitan residence in Chisinau on Tuesday, July 26, 2022.
The main topic of the discussions was religious freedom in the context of the war on the country’s border.
The US Ambassador thanked the Metropolitan of Bessarabia for his philanthropic actions and the help offered to refugees from Ukraine.
Ambassador Logsdon expressed his wish to intensify the cooperation between the US Embassy and the Metropolis of Bessarabia. As a token of appreciation, Metropolitan Petru presented the new US Ambassador with a copy of the Holy Scriptures.
The collaboration between the Metropolis of Bessarabia and the US Embassy in Chisinau intensified in 2017 following the visit of Ambassador James Pettit to the metropolitan residence. A good collaboration was also maintained during the mandate of Ambassador Dereck J. Hogan.
In 2020, during the coronavirus pandemic, the US Embassy in Chisinau supported the social-philanthropic activity of the Metropolis of Bessarabia.
