According to an announcement issued by the Patriarchate of Alexandria, the body of late Metropolitan of Pelusium, Nifon, is already in the Greek Hospital of Cairo and will be laid in repose for the faithful to pay their respects from Friday morning at the Holy Temple of St. George in old Cairo.
It should be noted that from the morning of Friday, December 11, Metropolitan Nicodimos of Memphis and Patriarchal Commissioner of Cairo will preside over the Divine Liturgy at the church of St. George in old Cairo.
Immediately after the completion of the Divine Liturgy, the priests will read passages from the gospel until the time of the funeral service.
At 2 p.m., the funeral service of the Blessed Metropolitan will begin, in the presence of Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa.
Also present will be the Patriarchal Commissioner of Alexandria, Metropolitan Narcissus and Bishop Germanos of Tamiathus as well as the entire clergy.
There are many Hierarchs from Africa and Greece who wanted to attend the funeral service of the blessed Hierarch, but due to the coronavirus restrictive measures that have been imposed by the various states this will not be possible.
During the funeral service the use of masks will be obligatory and further measures will be taken to prevent the transmission of COVID-19.
Immediately after the completion of the funeral service, the body of the late Metropolitan will be transferred to Athens where he will be buried.
