On February 2, 2024, the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine and the Archimandrite of the Holy Dormition Kyiv Cave Monastery presided over the Divine Liturgy in the Assumption Cathedral of the Lavra on the occasion of the Feast of the Presentation of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Metropolitan Epifaniy of Kyiv and All Ukraine concelebrated the service along with Metropolitan Elder Emmanuel of Chalcedon (Ecumenical Patriarchate), Metropolitans Makariy of Lviv, Symeon of Vinnytsia and Bar, Dymytriy of Lviv and Sokal, Serhiy of Donetsk and Mariupol, Yevstratiy of Bila Tserkva, Archbishops Lavrentiy of Luhansk and Starobilsk, Onufriy of Chernivtsi and Kitsman, Herman of Chernivtsi and Khotyn, Bishops Kirill of Uzhhorod and Khust, Savva of Donetsk and Slaviansk, Gabriel of Rivne and Sarny, Nikodim of Kherson and Tavria, Anthony of Chernihiv and Nizhyn, Efrem of Vasylkiv, the monastery’s monastic brotherhood, and invited clergy.
After reading the Gospel, Metropolitan Epifaniy delivered a speech and offered a special prayer to the Lord during a critical time when Ukraine is in danger.
The service also included prayer requests for the soldiers defending Ukraine, and for the repose of the souls of all the fallen warriors and civilians who died during the war.
