Metropolis of Chicago to support those in need

This summer, Metropolis of Chicago’s ministry HOPE partnered with the Northern Illinois Food Bank to offer a Mobile Pantry in support of local community members and neighbors in need of groceries. With the support of The Greek Orthodox Church of St. Demetrios in Elmhurst, IL, which hosted the pantry at the parish, it was possible to provide 12,500 meals to people who need a little extra help at this time.
To date, with God’s blessings, HOPE has:
  • Served more than 80,000 meals to individuals and families
  • Provided 504 nights to people in need of shelter through our partnership with Northside Housing and Supportive Services
  • Distributed over 5,825 CARE and COVID Kits
The mission of Humanitarian Outreach and Philanthropic Engagement (HOPE) is to partner with parishes in the Greek Orthodox Metropolis of Chicago and with local networks to help provide food security and stable housing to those in need.
