The Feast of St. Frumentius, Archbishop of Abyssinia, was celebrated in Saint Frumentius Cathedral in Addis Ababa on Sunday, November 29, 2020.
The service was attended by the Greek Ambassador to Ethiopia, Anna Farrou, the Head of the Consular Office, Olga Tzortzatou, the President of the Greek Community, Dimitrios Sykas, the President of the Hellenic Athletic Association “Olympiakos,” Athanasios Roussos, and a few believers who came to the church due to the COVID-19 restrictive measures.
The Protosyncellus of the Holy Metropolis of Axum, Grand Archimandrite of the Throne Fr. Chrysostomos Barberis, presided over the Divine Liturgy.
After the Divine Liturgy, a memorial service was held for the rest of the soul of the late Metropolitan of Caesarea, Petros.
Fr. Chrysostomos conveyed to the faithful and friends of the late hierarch the condolences of Metropolitan Daniel of Axum.
Immediately afterwards, a short procession of the icon of St. Frumentius took place and a prayer was held for the end of the pandemic, the strengthening of the medical and nursing staff, the healing of the sick and the rest of the souls of all those who passed away.
