The Orthodox Church commemorates today Venerable Daniel of Stylite and Venerables Nomon and Vichianos.
Saint Daniel the Stylite lived during the reigns of Leo, Zeno, and Basiliscus. He entered a monastery at the age of five. Once he met Saint Symeon the Stylite and was given the benediction and encouragement to become a stylite, that is to live on a pillar, preaching, fasting and praying, in order to save their souls and acquire virtues.
He was given by the Holy Spirit a precious gift, which he maintained with much discernment and seriousness. He performed many miracles and participated in the Council of Chalcedon held in 451 AD which was very important.
He fell asleep in the Lord at the age of 80. His work had born fruit thanks to the virtues he acquires by the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ.
