U.S. Embassy Tirana’s Human Rights Officer Ian Crawford spoke to a group of students and faculty participating in the Institute for Religious Freedom and Democracy at Beder University.
“For five hundred years, Albanian, Muslims, and Christians have lived together in harmony. You have not merely tolerated each other; you have loved and respected each other. For half a millennium, you have provided a model of interfaith relations not only for the region but for the world,” Ian Crawford pointed out.
The US Human Rights Officer wanted to underline the current spirit of peaceful coexistence between Christians and Muslims, which is cultivated in the neighboring country and continues to bear fruit.
