On Sunday, 16 July 2023, the memory of the Holy 630 God-bearing Fathers of the 4th Ecumenical Synod in Chalcedon was celebrated with splendour and magnificence at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity of the Metropolis of Chalcedon.
Elder Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon presided over the Divine Liturgy, and was joined by Bishop Kassianos of Aravissos and Bishop Benjamin of Tralee, the Grand Ecclesiarch Archimandrite Aetios, Director of the Patriarchal Private Office, who was celebrating his patronal feast day, Archimandrite Iakovos, Vicar General of the Holy Archdiocese of Athens, Patriarchal Deacon Fr. Ieronymos and Deacon Fr. Asterios.
A special honour and joy for the Chalcedon Community was the presence of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, who joined in prayer from the Holy Sanctuary. Present also for the Divine Liturgy were Archons of the Great Church of Christ, many believers from the city of Constantinople, Chalcedon and from abroad. The homily was preached by the Grand Ecclesiarch, Archimandrite Aetios.
At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, Elder Metropolitan Emmanuel spoke appropriately, thanking Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, the fellow Hierarchs, the clergy and the faithful people for their participation in the feast day, while in particular he wished the Grand Ecclesiarch, Archimandrite Aetios a happy name day.
