Hagia Sophia was one of main reasons behind establishment of OPAC

Hagia Sophia was one of main reasons behind establishment of OPAC

The conversion of Hagia Sophia into a mosque was one of the main reasons the Orthodox Public Affairs Committee (OPAC) was set up.

Moreover, according to protothema.gr, a new organisation called the Orthodox Public Affairs Committee has been established in Washington.

The aim of the Commission, according to its statutes, is to defend publicly the world Orthodox Christian Church. The Committee also aims to promote, support and defend Christian communities around the world against persecution, exclusion and prejudice. According to its official website, Orthodox Christianity and Christianity in general “are under attack by cultural misappropriation, discriminatory practices toward minorities, and direct persecution around the world.”

George Gigicos, the former Deputy Assistant of Donald Trump, served as White House Advance Director. He is the co-founder and chairman of OPAC. “We seek to forge partnerships with those who share the same ideals and goals. The conversion of Hagia Sophia into a mosque was one of the main reasons the Orthodox Public Affairs Committee was set up,” he said.
