The message that Greece is not going to have any discussions with Turkey, with Oruc Reis on the Greek continental shelf, was sent by the Prime Minister of Greece, Kyriakos Mitsotakis during his meeting with the German Minister of Foreign Affairs, Heiko Maas at Maximos Palace.
As reported by skai.gr, Mitsotakis reminded that the Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs, just a week ago told his Greek counterpart that he would invite Athens to exploratory talks “and instead of exploratory talks we have Oruc Reis on the Greek continental shelf.”
“Obviously we will not discuss under these circumstances. We offered Turkey a very clear choice at the recent Summit: A renewed partnership or consequences in the event that the aggressive behavior continues. And it seems that Turkey has chosen the second path,” the Prime Minister stressed.
For his part, the German Minister of Foreign Affairs said that Turkey’s actions with Oruc Reis and in Varosha are completely contrary to the spirit of what had been agreed.
“That is why I have a lot of understanding for the fact that in Greece there is not just annoyance, but irritation. This is not the first time that the route that was set was interrupted through Turkish provocations,” Maas stressed.
