The bilateral meeting of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and French President Emmanuel Macron is awaited with much interest and much anticipation in Corsica at 16:00, shortly before the start of the 7th meeting of the MED7 group of southern European countries, on the main topic of the defense cooperation agreement and arms programs. Preparation has been made by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense while, as reported by government sources, there will be no signatures but a clear roadmap for when we will have the final agreements on the table.
All this, at a time when Emmanuel Macron has been warmly expressing his support and solidarity with Greece against the provocations of Ankara in the Eastern Mediterranean while the text of the conclusions of the Euro-Mediterranean Conference is eagerly awaited, in which, apart from the leaders of Greece and France, the leaders of Spain, Italy, Portugal, Cyprus and Malta also participate.
A press conference will be held at 19:30 (local time) and then the prime minister will attend the official luncheon.
Security has been stepped up around the hotel where the MED7 Group meeting will take place.
Before his meeting with the French president, Kyriakos Mitsotakis will meet representatives of the Greek community of Cargèse in Corsica at 15:00 (local time). The village was established in the late 18th century by the descendants of a group of immigrants from Mani who had settled on the island a century earlier.
