The government repeatedly shows its intention to adopt stricter preventive measures, mainly from Holy Friday to Resurrection Sunday, while denouncing incidents such as those that took place in Koukaki and on Corfu.
“The services will be held behind closed doors and the churches will be closed to the faithful throughout Holy Week. The decisions made by the Standing Holy Synod are clear. That is why we denounce incidents such as those that took place in two churches, in Koukaki and on Corfu.
They disregard the recommendations of the Holy Synod and violate the laws adopted for the protection of public health and the common good under current extraordinary circumstances. We keep the faith within us and avoid mass gathering in order to keep the number of cases and victims low – which unfortunately exist. We do so in order to get out of the health crisis as soon as possible with the least consequences,” noted the Government Spokesman, Stelios Petsas, during the briefing of the journalists.
