In a telephone conversation with NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg ahead of a meeting of the Alliance’s foreign ministers on 1-2 December, the Greek Foreign Minister spoke in detail about Turkey’s provocative and delinquent behaviour.
In this context, the Greek Foreign Minister stressed that the Turkish behaviour was not only an important factor of destabilisation in the wider region but also undermined the cohesion of NATO at a critical time. He also stressed, as reported by the same sources, that the Turkish actions contradict the fundamental principles and values of the Alliance, such as the rule of law, human rights, etc.
During the Ministerial Meeting, the Secretary General of NATO spoke about the presentation, the report of the group of experts that he had previously appointed in the framework of the mediation process for “NATO 2030”.
The report states that NATO’s unity and coherence are essential for all Member States which must respect the fundamental principles governing the Organisation and avoid using it for selfish political purposes.
