The Department of Greek Education of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, in cooperation with the Hellenic Book club of New York, invites everyone to participate in a viewing of the Iconic Hellenic movie “Z”.
The film, which was directed by Costa-Gavras, is based on the novel “Z” by Vassilis Vassilikos. The event will be held at Archdiocesan Hellenic Cultural Center, which is located at 27-09 Crescent Street, Astoria, N.Y. on December 7th at 7:00 pm.
The music played in the film was composed by Mikis Theodorakis. Actors include Jean-Louis Trintignant as the investigating magistrate and international stars Yves Mont and Irene Papas. This film was nominated for the Academy Awards for both Best Picture and Best Foreign Language Film.
After the film, Mr. Lou Katsos, President of the East Mediterranean Business Culture Alliance (EMBCA) will hold a brief discussion about the turbulent political climate during that era and some background history of the film itself.
