First church dedicated to St Porphyrios of Kausokalyvia consecrated in Romania

On Sunday, Metropolitan Laurențiu of Transylvania performed the consecration service of the first church dedicated to St. Porphyrios in Romania.

The church belongs to Bod Colonie Parish in Brașov and the main patronal feast of the church is the Ascension of the Lord.

Metropolitan Laurențiu of Transylvania explained the symbolism of the consecration service of a church.

Afterwards, His Eminence celebrated the Divine Liturgy during which offered his reflections on the gospel reading about the healing of the blind man from Jericho.

God gave us the gift of sight with a purpose, namely to be able to live, to independently sustain ourselves, but also to see and praise the beauty of God s creation, all that God created.

Sight also has this spiritual part because everything we see and the names that we give to all visible things happen inside ourselves, in our mind, but we discover God when our sight descends from the mind to the heart, warming it, His Eminence said.

During the Divine Liturgy, deacon Ionuț Orzan was ordained a priest for the Sohotol Parish, Bran Zărnești Deanery.
