The great Feast of the Transfiguration of the Savior Jesus was celebrated in Melbourne. The three-day worship services were held with restrictions on the congregation, while on the day of the feast, Orthros and the Divine Liturgy were performed behind closed doors, due to the strict measures that have been put in place to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
The worship services focused on the so-called Holy Temple in the suburb of Thomastown, where on the eve of the feast the Archbishopric Commissioner of the North – Coat District, Archimandrite Eumenios Vassilopoulos, performed the solemn Vespers on the evening and the Divine Liturgy, accompanied by the Priests of the Temple.

In his sermon, addressing the parishioners and all the faithful who watched what was happening on social media, Archimandrite Eumenios described the event of the Transfiguration on Mount Tabor, connecting it with the event of the Crucifixion of Christ. Among other things, he appealed to “transform ourselves”, responding to the special conditions that currently prevail in the State of Victoria.
Also, the Archbishopric Commissioner of the North – Coat Region conveyed to the faithful the blessings and wishes of the Archbishop of Australia Makarios.
