German Chancellor Angela Merkel had a telephone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday afternoon. The purpose of their communication was the tension in the Eastern Mediterranean and the crisis in the Aegean.
According to the first information from the Turkish media, Erdogan blamed Greece and Cyprus for the tension and claimed that it is unacceptable for them to be supported by other countries.
“Greece, the Greek Cypriots and the countries that support them, are taking steps that increase the tension and lead to the non-solution of the problems,” Erdogan added.
In fact, the Turkish media report that the Turkish president held a particularly harsh attitude towards the chancellor.
