After having being informed of the catastrophic fire that hit Rhodes, which burned thousands of acres of forest, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew sent a letter of support to Metropolitan Kyrillos of Rhodes, expressing his sympathy and sending his prayers to all the volunteers and firefighters who battled against the wildfires “to protect the environment and the property of their fellow human beings, contributing effectively to the elimination of major risk.”
“Expressing the support of the Mother Church, we hope that the deadly disaster will be overcome soon and we pray to the Virgin Mary for the protection of the holy clergy and the faithful,” said the Ecumenical Patriarch.
