This morning, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, together with the representatives of the local Orthodox Churches and the members of their delegations, prayed together during the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of Saint Kyriaki. The Patriarch blessed the faithful, and then performed a Trisagion for the repose of the soul of the late Patriarch of Bulgaria, Neofit, whose tomb is located in the surrounding area of the Church.
The Ecumenical Patriarch has been visiting Sofia since Saturday evening, 29 June, at the invitation of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church to attend today the enthronement of its new Primate.
The Patriarch arrived yesterday evening at Sofia International Airport, coming from Aktion, and was received by the Metropolitan Grigorije of Vratsa, as well as by the Ambassador of Greece and the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Bulgaria.
