The great feast day of the Orthodox Church, the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God, was solemnly celebrated in the Diocese of Nis.
The most solemn celebration was in Pirot where Bishop Arsenije of Nis served the feast day’ Vigil, and the next day, on the occasion of the city patron’s day, also the Holy Liturgy in Pirot was celebrated.
In the monastery of Sukovo, the service was performed on the Eve of the feast day.
On 28 August 2019, on the feast day of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God Bishop Arsenije of Nis celebrated the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy in Pirot’s Cathedral church.
A solemn procession went through the main streets of Pirot until the center of the town and the Town Hall where the rite of breaking the slava cake was held. The ceremony was greeted by His Grace Bishop Arsenije of Nis and Mayor of Pirot Mr. Vladan Vasic.
