Today our Church commemorates St. Myron, Bishop of Knossos, the wonder worker († 350), who was born while Roman Emperor Dekius was in rule, in the village of Rafkos or Rafkia, southwest of Knossos, Crete.
Saint Myron came from a noble family and had God-fearing parents who cultivated humility and love for man.
The Saint was a farmer by profession and offered much of his crop to the poor. The Book of Saints characteristically states that as the Saint healed the poor, the fruits of his fields increased.
Saint Myron was married. After the premature death of his wife, Saitn Myron joined the sacred clergy and was ordained a senior during the Persecutions.
He was subsequently promoted to Bishop of Knossos by Bishop of Pinitos at Rafkia.
In spite of his high position, Saint Myron remained a philanthropist and humble. The Saint died in old age.
