The Holy Synod of the Church of Crete expressed its condolences for the death of Archbishop Stylianos to Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, the bishops, the clergy and the congregation of the Holy Archdiocese of Australia, as well as to the relatives of the late Hierarch.
As stated in an announcement, the late Archbishop Stylianos was widely acknowledged as a “church man of great spiritual importance”.
It is further mentioned that he was tremendous in Theology, writing and poetry, and was commemorated for his great pastoral, administrative and social work.
“Born and bred of Crete, the Church of Crete is more than proud of Archbishop Stylianos, who used his virtues for the sake of the Mother Church, the Ecumenical Patriarchate, the Holy Archdiocese of Australia and more widely the dialogue among Christians,” said the Church of Crete.
