The Central Youth of the Archdiocesan District of Adelaide celebrated its patron saint, Saint Stephen the First Martyr and Archdeacon.
Following the tradition of the last years, the Central Youth honored its patron saint this year with the Vespers on the feast day, Sunday, December 27, at the Church of St. George in Thebarton.
The Vespers service was performed in English, with the participation of many priests of Adelaide, officiated by Bishop Silouan of Sinope, who is keenly interested in the youth and encourages the faithful to participate in the worship life of the Church.
After the service, the Bishop spoke about St. Stephen and focused on martyrdom and witness, a topic chosen by the Central Youth. In particular, he referred to the martyrdom and witness of the Orthodox Church over the years and stressed that the purpose of the Church, both as the body of Christ and as persons themselves, was to spread the testimony of salvation, which was given to the humankind and to all creation with the Incarnation, Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Afterwards, the Parish-Community of Saint George hosted a barbecue dinner and pastries in the event hall of the Elementary School of the college of Saint George College.
