With the Blessings of Archbishop Makarios, Primate of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia, Bishop Bartholomew of Charioupolis presided at the Holy Passion service at the church of St Dimitrios in Queanbeyan.
It was the first time where a Hierarch of the Church presided at the church of Dimitrios on Holy Thursday.
In his sermon, Bishop Bartholomew spoke about the actions of the thief on the Cross who at his very last breath sought repentance. Moreover, the reply of Christ is to forgive him and allow him to enter the eternal Kingdom. The Bishop illustrated that although we sin and that we will continue to sin, the goal must be to repent, God will always open His arms to us for He is love.
In conclusion, Bishop Bartholomew conveyed the love and best wishes of Archbishop Makarios and on his behalf wished everyone a blessed Easter.
