On Sunday, July 24, 2022, the Bishop of Slatina and Romanați celebrated the Divine Liturgy at Verguleasa parish in Olt County, where he blessed the community’s bell tower and mortuary chapel.
“Good is transmissible,” Bishop Sebastian of Slatina and Romanați stressed on Sunday, offering his reflections on the healing of the paralytic at Capernaum.
“For the faith of the four, Christ forgave the sick man’s sins! What does this mean? This means that good is transmissible,” Bishop Sebastian noted, “that the energy, the good spirit, and the prayer of some for others can change destinies. This fact encourages us to assume our neighbours, according to the word of the Apostle: “Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ.” (Gal. 6: 2)”.
“So, you have children who don’t listen to you anymore? Spouses who are no longer faithful to you? Friends who no longer share your love? Bring them before the Lord! Take them in the arms of your love and bring them to Christ, trusting that they are not sicker than the paralytic of today, nor is the Lord less open to the fulfillment of your request than to the faith of the four men,” the hierarch urged.
“Let us carry in our souls those in trouble and need! In our diptychs (list of names), in our thoughts and hearts, when we come to the church to pray, and, seeing our faith, the Lord will not be less kind to us than to those in today’s gospel!”
