On the 5th and 6th of July 2024, Bishop Elpidios of Kyanea, accompanied by the Abbot of the Holy Monastery of St John in Forrestfield, Archimandrite Makarios Souris, traveled to the city of Albany in Western Australia to serve the spiritual needs of the small Greek Orthodox community that reside in the area.
Albany is a popular tourist destination located at the southern tip of Western Australia, 421 kilometers south of Perth.
On the second day of his arrival, Bishop Elpidios conducted the Matins Service and Divine Liturgy, allowing the faithful to participate in the sacrament of the Holy Eucharist.
In his sermon, His Grace directed the faithful’s attention to the Gospel reading of the day focusing on the verses, “Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get”(Mt 7:1).
After the Divine Liturgy, Bishop Elpidios conveyed to all the paternal love and blessings of Archbishop Makarios of Australia and reminded everyone of His Eminence’s forthcoming visit to Perth.
