On the morning of Friday, March 18, Bishop Bartholomew of Charioupolis, Archiepiscopal Vicar of Canberra, representing Archbishop Makarios of Australia, visited the Prime Minister of Tasmania, Peter Gutwein, accompanied by the priest of the Holy Trinity Church of Hobart, Fr. Dimitrios Katsis.
The Bishop, after thanking the Prime Minister for the opportunity to meet with him, conveyed the appreciation and warm wishes of Archbishop Makarios and invited Gutwein to the festivities that will take place for the Archbishop’s visit to the State.
In addition, the Bishop of Charioupolis discussed with the Prime Minister about the various restoration works to be carried out in the preserved church of the Holy Trinity, and then gave him an icon of Christ, wishing God to give him health and strength to serve the community.
Gutwein thanked Bishop Bartholomew for the visit and expressed his support to the Greek Orthodox Church of Australia. In addition, he asked the Bishop to convey his heartfelt wishes to Archbishop Makarios and expressed the wish to meet with him.
